When we sat down to write this “About Us” page, my husband started with, “We are us.” He looked at me like, ‘bam’—that was it; there was no more left to write. It made me laugh so much that I decided to keep it—because, really, that’s at the heart of who we are. 

I’m a creator at heart. Books and art are my constants, my companions that I rarely leave home without. I’m that person who travels with an activity bag, making sure I never run out of things to do. 

I learned to knit when I was around 10 or 11. At the time, it was just one of many creative outlets for me—a curious kid who loved working with my hands. I learned to knit, crochet, sew, embroider, paint, draw, and make jewelry, immersing myself in any craft I could find. As I explored these arts, I developed a deep appreciation for natural materials: the rich textures of full-grain leather, the softness of wool, the luxurious feel of cashmere, baby alpaca, and silk. There’s something uniquely beautiful about working with authentic, organic materials—they have a warmth and softness that synthetic fibers simply can’t match. 

Over the years, I’ve knit myself through a lifetime of adventures within the pages of books—and now, through this adventure. Knitty Gritty Witty began as a high school side hustle, an opportunity to practice and refine my craft. Now, years later—graduated from college, married, and armed with years of experience and a whole lot of love—my husband and I have transformed Knitty Gritty Witty from a “cheesy” amateur company into a true business and our next big adventure. This isn’t just a hobby anymore; it’s our dream, a way to share the joy and beauty of handmade, sustainable goods with the world. 

Our mission is to create products that honor the earth and embrace sustainability. We are committed to sourcing eco-friendly, natural fibers from artisans who hand-dye and source their fibers from local and small farms. These materials not only look and feel beautiful but are also gentle on the planet.
